Si chiama Tina la studentessa sospesa per aver risposto alle bandiere gay nella sua scuola con dei versetti della bibbia. Ecco cos’è successo.


Aveva visto le bandiere e i poster dell’orgoglio LGBT nella sua scuola. Erano appese ovunque. E lei ha sentito il bisogno di scrivere dei versetti della bibbia, per avere spazio. Ma il risultato è stato funesto: è stata sospesa e tacciata di omofobia.
Il tutto è avvenuto in Ohio, all’interno della Lebanon High School, a circa 30 miglia a nord est di Cincinnati. A raccontare l’episodio è stata l’emittente Fox News, che è partita da un video postato dalla studentessa, Tina Helsinger, su Facebook.
Nel video Tina ha dichiarato di essere stata sospesa perché accusata di “prendere di mira” il club Gay-Straight Alliance della sua scuola. La sua unica colpa? Aver affisso quei versetti della Bibbia accanto alle bandiere omosessuali.
Tina ha dichiarato di aver visto gli insegnanti tirare via i suoi versetti e di essere rimasta di sasso: «Il giorno dopo, sono stata chiamato in ufficio dal preside – dice Tina – che mi ha consegnato una lettera di sospensione giustificata da un mio abuso degli altri e dalla mancanza di rispetto e maleducazione: non sapevo cosa intendesse. A scuola sono impegnata in attività di sostegno degli altri».
Quando il preside le ha spiegato la sua colpa, Tina è rimasta di stucco: «Io penso che in realtà queste persone non abbiano bisogno di chiedersi se sono gay, bi, lesbiche, trans. Penso siano confuse. E ho affisso quei versetti perché Dio è l’unico modo in cui possono uscire dalla confusione».
Tina ha inoltre detto che il preside le ha detto che per affiggere i versetti avrebbe dovuto chiedere un permesso. «Ma – dice – penso che se lo sia inventato. Tutti a scuola lasciano note sugli armadietti e sui muri, senza permesso. E di certo non vengono sospesi».
Il preside della scuola, Scott Butler, ha rifiutato di commentare. Di seguito il video di Tina Helsinger, che racconta tutta la situazione.
